List your favourites, nominate those who deserve recognition, and join in the conversation

We’d like to hear from you about your favourite new authors, whether they’re well-known writers or newcomers to your area, and who you think should be in the running for a list of the best new works published in 2018.

We are going to be looking at published fiction, non-fiction and poetry in the UK and Ireland, along with education. We’ll also consider memoirs, and we’ll be featuring some books published in 2018 that have not yet been published in the UK, and are not yet available to buy.

As well as supporting emerging writers, this list will have a particular spotlight on children’s and young adult books, as these are published less frequently than non-fiction and poetry in a paper – and we would like to hear about books you’ve read by kids or young adults for the first time. We’ll also be looking at books for adult fiction, non-fiction and poetry.

Your nominations will be added to a top 10 list and a total of around 20 books will be named on the final list. We will do our best to keep the list comprehensive as we work, but please feel free to suggest additional works, as long as they are published in 2018.

All nominations and results will be final and published in time for the end of 2018.
