MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” reported Sunday that Harris’ communications director Jen Psaki will be leaving the White House after she helped the freshman senator implement her major policy platform – health care policy.
The “Morning Joe” discussion began with a short video of Harris, the first Indian-American woman elected to the U.S. Senate, who is popular for her self-deprecating humor.
“Why am I only 23?” Harris said with a laugh.
When asked about her ability to “shepherd” the president through a delicate situation, Harris reflected on her approach to the presidency.
“We will work on the things that are important to me and leave the hollering about the things that are important to others,” she said.
When asked by one of the hosts if she thought President Trump would be deterred by a congresswoman from California, Harris said it was “really hard to tell.”
“I think anybody who is thinking about giving someone a job,” she said, “I think about the gut check.”
When asked about the options in a 2020 race, Harris responded by saying she’s “not looking further than the midterm election.”
“The people are figuring it out, I believe,” she said.
In response to the “Morning Joe” reports, a spokesperson for Harris confirmed that Psaki was no longer in the administration.
