#CNNSOTU: Oprah Winfrey and Reese Witherspoon on “Big Little Lies”

CNN’s Trish Regan sat down with Oprah Winfrey and Reese Witherspoon to discuss new movie “Big Little Lies” on “#CNNSOTU,” airing at 11:00 p.m. ET/PT on CNN and CNNgo.

Ms. Winfrey and Ms. Witherspoon say:

Oprah Winfrey: “One of the things that inspired me to take this project was the chance to tell such a deep, emotional story. Because for me, one of the things that I know is to portray real people in a real way and focus on the human experience.”

Ms. Witherspoon: “I had never seen anything like Big Little Lies, and I am an avid reader of murder mysteries. And then I saw a scene that I had never seen before. It made me cry, and I couldn’t stop crying. And then I said to [producer] David E. Kelley, ‘She has to be on screen for one minute!’ He said, ‘Shut up! Shut up! You want to see her?’ And he goes, ‘Did you guys see that scene where she has those two tips on her neck?’ I said, ‘Yes.’ He goes, ‘The bottom one is really pearlescent, so if she said anything to Nicole, I don’t know how she’d look that day.’”
